How to Play All-In or Fold
1. The Basics
All-In or Fold is a fast-paced poker variation where every decision you make is critical. Unlike regular Texas Hold’em, this game limits your options to two choices each time it’s your turn:
- All-In: Push all your chips into the pot.
- Fold: Give up your hand and lose your chance at the pot.
2. Gameplay Rules
- Blinds: The game starts with small and big blind bets, just like regular Texas Hold'em. These bets are mandatory and rotate around the table each round.
- Pocket Cards: Each player is dealt two private cards (your "hole cards").
- The Flop, Turn, and River: Community cards are dealt in the center of the table across three stages—Flop (3 cards), Turn (1 card), and River (1 card). These are shared by all players to create the best possible 5-card hand.
- Winning Hands: The game follows standard Texas Hold’em hand rankings, from a High Card to a Royal Flush. The player with the best hand at showdown wins.
3. Making Decisions
On your turn, you only have two choices:
- All-In: Commit your entire stack of chips to the pot.
- Fold: Surrender your hand and wait for the next round.
There’s no option to raise, call, or check in this game.
4. What Happens After You Go All-In?
- Once you go all-in, all community cards (Flop, Turn, and River) are revealed.
- If you have the strongest hand, you win the pot. If not, your chips go to the player with the best hand.
5. Key Differences from Regular Hold’em
- Simplified Strategy: Without the option to call, raise, or check, the focus is entirely on the strength of your cards and your decision-making.
- High Variance: Since every move is all-or-nothing, this game can be more volatile than regular poker, requiring a solid understanding of hand rankings and probabilities.
6. Tips for Success
- Play Tight: Since you can’t afford to make speculative calls, only go all-in with strong starting hands like pairs, high cards (Aces and Kings), or suited connectors with high potential.
- Observe Opponents: Look for patterns in your opponents’ decisions. Some may bluff more often, while others may only go all-in with premium hands.
- Bankroll Management: All-in or Fold can be exhilarating but risky. Set limits and stick to your budget to avoid big losses.
